Is Man vs Wild Real Or Not

I'm sure that at least 90% of the world has seen the show Man vs Wild on Discovery Channel and have asked themselves "is any of this actually real"? Well I'm here to tell you just what "real" means. People often criticize the show by comparing it to Survivor Man, that also used to air on Discovery. Survivor Man, quite like MvW, had a man go out into the wilderness with cameras to track his "every" move. However, Survivor Man's Les Stroud went out into the wilderness by himself as opposed to Bear Grylls having a camera crew with him. As a fan of both shows, I can say that both are rather unique in their own way. I personally adore Bear Grylls, but Les Stroud has that "do what I gotta do and get out" mentality. Anyways, back to the topic at hand. Is any of this show actually real or true? Well, it depends on what the word "real" means to you. Is Bear really out in the wilderness, yes. Is Bear really eating animal feces, yes. That stuff is obviously true. However, at the beginning of the show it clearly states that some situations are presented to Bear. Case in point, say Bear encounters a snake. More than likely, that snake was not naturally there rather than the fact that it was placed there for the sake of the show. But it's not to say that these situations are not real. What Bear is trying to do is show you what could happen in any given situation. Sure it might not sound great to drink your own pee in the desert, but you must realize that these are all last-ditch efforts for survival. No, I don't think that Bear would rather drink his own urine than walk five steps and drink from a bottle of water, but he does this to show you that it is possible to survive this way. I have seen pictures of Bear, while doing a shoot, sitting with two men eating dinner on plates. Of course he's not actually sleeping in the jungle for a week, he is just simply showing the audience all the things you could do if you needed to. So, back to the question: is Man vs Wild actually true? Yes. Everything you see him do on the show is all Bear. From scaling tall cliffs, to starting a campfire with a stick. Everything you see is actually being done to show you what could happen and what you could do to stay alive.

I feel the show is very real. There have been many news stories where people used the skills shown by bear and have survived in serious situations.
